EXPLORE EDIGER-ELLER · THE MOSELLE
The Moselle.
Made for exploring.
Between vineyards, water and historic towns, a new perspective awaits every day. Walking, wine, cycling, boat trips, canoeing and local history: choose the pace that suits you.

Your excursion journal: eleven ideas.
01 · Calmont Klettersteig
A demanding route through steep vineyards between Eller and Bremm, with narrow passages, ladders and fixed cables. Allow time for viewpoint stops. A head for heights, sure-footedness, fitness and sturdy shoes are essential. Check current route and weather information; take plenty of water in hot weather. This is not a pushchair route.
Official visitor information ↗02 · Ediger-Eller on foot
Explore the historic lanes and half-timbered houses, then pause beside the river. A relaxed idea for arrival day, with time for a wine bar in the evening. Ask the local tourist information about guided visits and events.
Official visitor information ↗03 · Bremm and the Moselle loop
Discover the village beneath the Calmont and enjoy the riverside setting. The ruins of Kloster Stuben stand on the opposite bank and need a separate approach. The famous view from above requires an additional walk; it is not a riverside viewpoint.
Official visitor information ↗04 · Beilstein
Small squares, narrow lanes and half-timbered houses make Beilstein a lovely place for an afternoon stroll and a coffee. Cobbles and slopes can make access harder. If combining your visit with a boat trip from Cochem, check the current return service first.
Official visitor information ↗05 · Cochem and the Reichsburg
Combine the old town and promenade with a visit to the castle above Cochem. The approach to the castle is uphill. Check official tour times, tickets and the current visitor programme before travelling.
Official visitor information ↗06 · Zell on the Moselle
Explore the home of the Zeller Schwarze Katz wine along the old town lanes and riverside. For a view from the Collis tower, choose a suitable walking route. The steep Collis path includes ladders and metal steps and is a demanding option.
Official visitor information ↗07 · Burg Eltz
Plan a separate day out to the castle in its wooded setting. Choose between the approach from the car park and a longer walk. Visits are seasonal; check opening times, tickets, parking and access on the official website.
Official visitor information ↗08 · Cycling beside the Moselle
Choose a route on the Mosel-Radweg to suit your day, perhaps towards Bremm, Cochem or Zell. Plan your return journey, river crossings and distance, and check diversions in the official route planner. These are destination ideas, not ready-made routes.
Official visitor information ↗09 · A boat trip from Cochem
Enjoy the river landscape from the water on a sightseeing trip from Cochem. A service to Beilstein is also offered, subject to the current seasonal timetable. Confirm departures, return times and tickets with the operator. No departure from Ediger-Eller is promised here.
Official visitor information ↗10 · Wine tasting in Ediger-Eller
Discover local Moselle wines at a tasting or a visit to a winegrower. The tourist information lists local offers. Arrange your time, reservation and price directly with the organiser; this is also an idea for a day with changeable weather.
Official visitor information ↗11 · Canoeing on the Moselle
Plan your trip with the rental operator before setting out. Mosel-Kanutours lists stations in Ediger-Eller and Ernst; confirm the current station arrangements, route, briefing, equipment, boat return and transport directly. Check weather, water levels, shipping traffic and the operator’s advice.
Official visitor information ↗Three ideas for your day.
A relaxed day
Morning: stroll through Ediger-Eller. Afternoon: wander through Beilstein and pause for coffee. Evening: enjoy a wine tasting you have arranged in advance.
A day outdoors
Choose a route for your ability and check weather and trail advice. Dedicate the day to the Calmont rather than a busy programme, and plan your return. Finish beside the river. Cycling is an alternative if you prefer.
Towns and history
Explore Cochem and the Reichsburg in the morning. If the timetable suits, add a boat trip, or relax on the promenade. Save Burg Eltz for another day so there is time for travelling and visiting.
